Job Summary/Basic Function:

SBBCollege is looking for a well-qualified, passionate, Chief Flight Instructor to be the founder of our new aviation program located on the Bakersfield International Airport in Bakersfield CA. The Chief Flight Instructor will be responsible for overseeing the flight operations of this new and exciting adventure. The Chief Flight Instructor will manage all operational aspects of a Part 141 Pilot Training School per FAA regulations. Maintain all FAA required student records. This position works closely with the Campus Director and Director of Aviation to provide strategic leadership and supervision to the flight operations of the aviation program.

Essential Duties

Recruits, hires, orients, evaluates and mentors full-time and adjunct aviation faculty within the program. Supervise flight instructors and ground instructors for the program.Remain informed of the latest developments within the business aviation community, including the FARs, and other Federal, state, local and foreign regulations affecting operations.Establishing and supervising the initial and recurrent training of aviation department personnel. Instructing flight personnel in the use of the standard operating procedures (SOP) manual. Review pilot log books to ensure they are being properly maintained and updated.Conduct annual reviews and evaluations of all flight personnel. Monitor all instructors to ensure all training course outlines (TCO) are being followed.
Monitor student progress to ensure satisfactory progress throughout the program. Perform end of phase progress checks. Participates in the development of institutional procedures, and ensures that programs and faculty operates within the boundaries established by the College, federal and state and regulation, and requirements imposed by accrediting agencies. Works with faculty and staff to identify the budgetary needs of the program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Hold a commercial pilot certificate or an airline transport pilot certificate, and, a current flight instructor certificate
Meet the pilot-in-command recent flight experience requirements of §61.57. Flight training experience, acquired as either a certificated flight instructor or an instructor in a military pilot flight training program, or a combination thereof, consisting of at least— 3 years and a total of 1,000 flight hours; or
2,000 flight hours.Hold a FAA Class 3 medical or higher.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree or Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university. . Chief pilot experience at a Part 141 Flight School
