Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Academic Dean will provide leadership for the academic objectives, plans and programs of SBBC within the campus. Manage campus learning environment by ensuring proper instruction and facilitation of methods and materials. Responsible for maximizing the successful retention and graduation of enrolled students, and for delivering results within the guidelines of state, federal, and College regulations and policies. Work with management team to implement campus business plans.

Essential Duties

• Responsible for the oversight of all campus educational activities and outcomes.
• Leads and manages the Academic department by hiring, training and developing quality staff, providing performance feedback and coaching.
• Manages academic curriculum, ensuring proper instruction and delivery of curriculum materials, managing the learning environment and facilitating the use of SBBC learning methods and materials.
• Create academic goals and objectives for the college’s Campus Effectiveness Plan.
• Collaborates with other college leadership staff to achieve desired organizational results in areas of customer satisfaction, student retention, staff retention, graduation rates and satisfactory student progress and other compliance and organizational goals.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by understanding student and employer needs, analyzing customer feedback and implementing appropriate improvement initiatives.
• Monitor all academic activities to ensure SBBC, state, federal and regulatory compliance within the Academic department. Ensures understanding and compliance within department staff. Provides proper and timely documentation to support this compliance.
• Direct and evaluate the achievement of student performance objectives, including satisfactory academic progress, drop analysis, and effective retention of student population.
• Enable student success by advising students and documenting academic issues. Provide quality student services through proper and timely orientation, and adequate academic support.
• Manages the hiring, development, and the maintenance of faculty through training and professional development programs, including in-service workshops.
• Develop annual performance objectives and complete individual professional develop plans for faculty.
• Monitor classroom instruction to ensure acceptable delivery of course objectives.
• Conduct regularly scheduled faculty meetings and record minutes.
• Participate, coordinate and/or plan annual curriculum review meetings. Recommend new courses or present course modifications.
• Assist with facility and equipment issues as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university required. Master’s degree (MA or MS) preferred. One to two years education administration and/or teaching experience, or a combination of related skills also desirable.
